Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, Treasure Artists, featuring the work of Ray Jacobsen

Sonoma Valley Museum of Art presents:

Treasure Artists
featuring the work of RAY JACOBSEN
and a Tribute to GREGOR GOETHALS

November 1 to December 14, 2008

The SVMA is honored to present an exhibition of all 28 Sonoma Treasure artists, beginning in 1983, and featuring the paintings of Sonoma Treasure Ray Jacobsen — a chronological selection of his watercolors, oils, acrylics and mixed media from his first experimental paintings in 1968. Accompanying this show will be an overview in pictures and letters of the extraordinarily rich life of Dr. Gregor Goethals, art history lecturer and artist.

Each year the Cultural and Fine Arts commission awards a Sonoma Treasure award to an artist or artists who exhibit professional expertise in their chosen artistic medium. This skill shall have been demonstrated for a sufficient period of time for the artist to be considered a master of his craft and a respected artist in the local, regional or international arena. The choice for Sonoma Treasure is made after an open submittal process which seeks input from the public.

Members Opening October 30, 2008 at 6:30 - 8:00pm

Also represented will be the 2008 Sonoma Treasure, to be selected in September.
