Ray’s family & friends are proud to announce the

Ray Jacobsen Memorial Scholarship fund

Ray Jacobsen

As you read this, it has been one year since the passing of City of Sonoma Treasure and local artist, Ray Jacobsen. If you knew Ray, you would understand that his legacy was not only his extensive portfolio of Sonoma landscapes, still lifes and seascapes, but also his lifelong commitment to the creative spirit and art education in our community.

His work will continue in the form of a memorial scholarship endowed by his family, friends and community organizations such as yours. The Ray Jacobsen Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship to support and further the higher education of Sonoma Valley student-artists. Our goal is to create a perpetual fund of $25,000 which will support an annual $1,000 scholarship to further the art education of a Sonoma valley high school student.

Ray's artwork will be featured in the upcoming exhibition at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, Treasure Artists, featuring the work of Ray Jacobsen, November 1st-December 14th 2008. Soon after, the Arts Guild of Sonoma will pay tribute to one of its founding members in a two day benefit exhibition and sale of Ray Jacobsen’s paintings to be held at The Community Center on November 14th-15th, 2008. We invite you to attend both events.

To learn more about Ray, read Ray's story, read his artist's profile, and visit the gallery.
